What does CREATIVITY mean for you?
A few years ago, I had a client in my fairy party business. I was amazed & grateful at how quickly all my goods were off-loaded out my vehicle by her family! She said she was from Europe (don’t recall country) & everyone helps. I remember her very fondly as she was so gracious.
My client made this comment, ‘I don’t do creative, I am an accountant.’
But, I tend to disagree as we use creativity all the time. Here are some examples:
- I am not a creative cook, I follow recipes. But, I ‘create’ meals & try new recipes. That is creativity!
- Finding a new route or a short-cut. I usually opt for a route through the suburbs that is longer, but more scenic. I admire the wide roads, big trees & beautiful large homes.
- Recently, I bought a pack of colouring pencils. Why? I prefer to write in pencil & thought it would be fun to write in different colours.
Usually there is more than one way of doing something. Previously, I have been ‘hell-bent’ on doing it my way & thinking it can ONLY be done this way. But, there may have been an easier & better way had I tapped into my creativity.
So, I invite you, when you are stuck with an issue ~ take some time to reflect & reconsider your next steps & ask if you can CREATE another way?
‘Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes & having fun.’ ~ Mary-Lou Cook
